On 16th July 2016 we would like to invite you to have a Wild Night Out. Our friends at Explorers Connect are asking people to get involved by having an adventure - sleep under the stars, go on a night hike, do a wild swim or do your own personal challenge - on or around this date and raise money to help us change young peoples' lives in the process.

People who have had the opportunity to challenge themselves and have an adventure can understand the massive impact outdoor adventure can have on somebody's life. It's a sad fact that the proportion of children in the UK regularly playing in wild places has fallen from over half to under 1 in 10.

At the Youth Adventure Trust we see time and time again the enormous benefits our adventure programme brings to the the vulnerable and disadvantaged young people we work with. It inspires them to fulfil their own potential and gives them the hope, confidence and skills to face their personal challenges.

As a community of people who enjoy adventure and the outdoors, Explorers Connect wants to help change the lives of the young people we work with. They are encouraging everybody to make the time to be in the great outdoors, have an adventure and raise money for the Youth Adventure Trust by being part of the Wild Night Out.

Youth Adventure Trust ambassador Alastair Humphreys, pioneer of the micro adventure, says:

"I'm delighted to see Wild Night Out working on such an important matter. When I was a child I benefitted hugely from being able to roam wild, exploring woods, hills and rivers with my brother and friends. It's important for children's physical health, to teach them to take and measure risk, to learn to appreciate and conserve our wild places and to have fun as well"

British explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes is also encouraging people to take part:

"Wild Night Out inspires adventure in everyone and gives disadvantaged young people a chance to do the same. Get involved today''

Visit the Wild Night Out webpage to find out how you can join the adventure community and have your own adventure to support the Youth Adventure Trust.

Did you know 1 in 5 young people haven’t paddled in the sea? This Christmas help us give 20 vulnerable young people the chance to build valuable skills at Coastal Camp, the second camp in our life-changing adventure programme.
