This winter we launched the YAT Boost Winter Challenge, a new pilot programme designed to keep young people on our Adventure Programme engaged, motivated, and working towards something positive during the colder months.
Young people were given the chance to put themselves forward, choosing to take on a personal challenge that would stretch them, build confidence, and give them a real sense of achievement. Over eight weeks we supported them through regular check-ins, helping them to stay on track, adjust their goals where needed and celebrating their successes along the way.

From cheese-making, swimming challenges and deadlifting, and everything in between, our young people embraced challenges, pushing themselves in ways that mattered to them. Their efforts were rewarded during our February half-term Activity Days, where they received certificates and prizes from their Programme Manager in recognition of their commitment and hard work.

The Boost Winter Challenge has shown us just how powerful self-motivation can be when combined with the right support. We were extremely impressed with the young people’s ideas, approach and commitment to seeing their challenge through. As we look ahead to the continuation and development of this important new addition to our programmes, we’ll be building on what we’ve learned, refining the support we offer and ensuring even more young people can benefit.
